Hi all, here we are with Week 50! Jenny shares on how the Holy Spirit has been encouraging her into a dance of creativity. I love this idea; may we all be swept into the wonderful dance and create beautiful things. If you're creative, let us know what you've been working on!
In Jenny's words...
I have been thinking recently about the idea of the Holy Spirit inviting us into a dance with Him (after reading about it in my Bible reading notes) and trying to imagine what that might look like….it seemed rather an unusual idea, but at the same time wonderful.
In recent years I’ve been inspired to be more creative. It feels like a new chapter of life has opened up with lots of opportunities to have fun: painting, drawing, crocheting, making pictures with diamond art, and even embroidery. Creativity is good for our mental health and well-being which makes it all the more worthwhile! As well as enjoying the process itself, it’s the joy of seeing something beautiful emerge from our efforts which brings us delight.
We have a Creator God who made us in His image and I feel he would share our delight in creating beautiful things. I’d like to think of him looking over my shoulder and saying “ Hey that’s great, I really like what you’ve done there!”
Beauty waits to meet us in many places – a field of wild poppies, a curled up sleeping cat, a glowing candle in a café window on a winter’s day, evening sunlight on autumn trees, a meaningful friendship, little acts of kindness. These gifts of beauty we see around us, together with our imagination, present us with endless possibilities to explore our own creativity in whatever way inspires us.
Of course we may not always be delighted with our creations, and we may not always feel inspired to create, but that’s all part of the journey!
So as I practise my painting skills, as I crochet my blanket with wonderful wool colours; as we notice little sparks of beauty here and there in our daily lives, maybe this is something of the dance that the Holy Spirit is leading us in……
Jenny currently works part time for the NHS and likes to spend her spare time doing creative pursuits when time and inspiration allow! She learns from online tutorials but also attends a community "Art Gym" which provides opportunities to draw/paint and chat at the same time. She also enjoys reading, coffee breaks and browsing charity shops. She has a tabby cat who enjoys lap-napping and food whenever he can get it.
